Winter Safety Vehicle Checklist

Winter Safety Vehicle Checklist

When it comes to winter preparation, too many times our vehicles get overlooked until that first snowfall reminds us. Before the first snow catches you off guard, check your vehicle for proper and adequate winter accessories and equipment to ensure they are present and in good condition. Below is a list of items to assist vehicle operators with their inspections.

Tire Chains
Ensure they are present, fit your vehicle and are in good condition.

Ice Scraper/Snow Removal Brush
Ensure one is present and in good condition.

Windshield Washers
Ensure washers spray from both nozzles and reservoir is full.

Engine Block Heater
Use anytime the overnight temperature is expected to drop below 32 F. Inspect cord for cuts or deteriorated insulation.

Cab Heater/Defroster
Operate to ensure forced warm airflow from ducts at windshield.

Reflective Triangle/Reflectors
Ensure three emergency roadside triangles/reflectors are present and in good condition.

Emergency Phone Numbers
Make certain you have vehicle shop repair numbers handy and available in case your vehicle becomes disabled.

Having good operating equipment in your vehicle will ensure you reach your destination in comfort and out of the cold!
