ICEpodz-FR is cooling technology offering the only tested and approved PPE preventive solution to heat. The two-component cooling system was tested by Hugh Hoagland of ArcWear, using ASTM F2621-12 standards and achieving an ARC2 8.7cal/cm² rating. ICEpodz-FR is field tested, endorsed and currently used by utility workers, fire and rescue, electricians and more. The product is designed to function in the harsh conditions of the work environment, delivering immediate cooling through intermittent preventive use and for longer wear if heat illness occurs. Unlike evaporative cooling towels and phase-change products, ICEpodz-FR is the only product on the market that combines effective dry frozen cooling with an FR-rated protective sleeve. The tested and approved ARC2-rated PPE delivers rapid heat relief even in high humidity, with a proven track record of reducing the risk of heat-related illness and injury. Its sleek design features and anatomical design ensure maximum skin surface contact. Lightweight, durable, effective and nontoxic, ICEpodz-FR uses neodymium magnets to secure around the neck and comes in navy, khaki or high-visibility yellow. Dynamic custom branding is available and comes with a manufacturer warranty.
Workrite Uniform Co. has expanded its selection of Dickies FR products to include two additional denim pant styles, a new plaid shirt and a balaclava. These new items are now available for wear trials and/or purchase.
The new denim pant styles combine FR protection with the popular look and relaxed fit of the Dickies X-Series. They include a lightweight option featuring 1 percent Spandex for added comfort and an option with a higher arc rating that is designed for harsher work environments. Both options are built with double-stitched seams and bar-tacks at stress points for added durability.
The new plaid shirt is made from lightweight, 5.3-ounce GlenGuard fabric, which is solution dyed instead of piece dyed to better retain color through laundering and sun exposure. The shirt is available in two different color combinations: navy/tan and cool blue/medium gray.
Each of the two jean styles and the shirt are UL certified to NFPA 2112 and built to withstand industrial laundering.
The balaclava, made from TenCate Tecasafe Plus fabric, features a double-layer hood and a single-ply bib in the front and back. It stretches to fit the face opening under most standard hard hats.

Carhartt is adding eight new women’s styles to its flame-resistant line. The new assortment – which includes a jacket, a denim pant and canvas pant, a coverall, a woven shirt and three knit shirts – focuses on fabric and fit, while mirroring the sizing of Carhartt’s non-FR women’s styles.
Purpose-built for women working in the electric utility and oil and gas industries, these functional products will change the way women dress anywhere FR products are necessary, according to the company.
The new styles will be available July 1 at select Carhartt company stores, and also will be available online at Carhartt.com on August 1.

Wrangler FR and Mount Vernon FR have partnered to launch a breakthrough collection of Wrangler FR jeans with revolutionary Cool Vantage technology. Made with Mount Vernon FR’s Cooleemee FR fabric, the jeans feature enhanced comfort due to proprietary cooling technology that wicks perspiration, pulling moisture to the outside of the garment where it can evaporate quickly. This technology increases comfort without sacrificing the protection or durability that a great pair of FR jeans can provide, and it is the first-ever application of cooling or moisture-wicking features to an FR denim jean.
The evaporative cooling process works in harmony with the body’s natural cooling mechanisms to regulate body temperature in hot conditions or during periods of physical exertion. With cooling benefits woven into the fabric that will not wash out over time, Wrangler FR jeans with Cool Vantage technology are developed to last for the wear life of the garment.
Wrangler FR Cool Vantage jeans are offered in a variety of fits and finishes for both men and women. The jeans are NFPA 2112 certified, featuring ASTM F1506-compliant fabric with an arc rating of 15 cal/cm2.

Tingley Rubber Corp. has announced the introduction of Flite Safety Toe Knee Boots in men’s sizes 4 to 15.
Toes are protected by a composite safety toe that meets the ASTM F2413-11 requirements for toe impact and compression, and Flite is electric hazard rated. But the real revolution starts with Aerex 1.5.5, a proprietary microcellular polymer that is self-insulating, chemical-resistant and durable. According to Robert N. Petersen, footwear product manager for Tingley, the boots are up to 40 percent lighter than most steel-toe rubber and PVC boots.
Petersen also pointed out the company’s use of long-lasting, slip-resistant nitrile rubber with tread wear indicators that is incorporated into the forefoot and heel in both the blue and black boots. The purpose of the indicators is to inform users about the time frame to wear away half the tread. When the Flite tread wears down to the same level as the indicator lines, users will know that they’ve worn away half the tread on their boots.
The innovations in materials carry over to comfort and performance, where a Calf-Relief Topline is not only stylish but provides for easier on and off, and a roomier, more spacious calf area. An electric hazard rating, a wraparound heel kick, and contoured EVA insoles round out the protection, styling and comfort that Flite offers.

Workrite Uniform Co. has developed a new Dickies FR denim jean line using Mount Vernon FR’s flame-resistant fabric. The midweight denim collection features a 13-ounce FR fabric from Mount Vernon FR called Mustang Flex, combining the best in both protection and comfort. Mustang Flex is part of Mount Vernon FR’s extensive FR denim fabric collection, Phoenix FR.
Mustang Flex denim adds mobility without reduction in FR protection, so workers experience increased comfort and range of motion when wearing the Dickies FR jeans. Mount Vernon FR’s Mustang Flex is engineered for increased comfort and movement, incorporating an elastomeric fiber that allows the fabric to elongate sideways and diagonally. This eliminates any sagging or bagging in the jeans, and makes reaching and bending easier for workers.
The Dickies FR jeans are available in two washes, with a relaxed, contemporary fit. The jeans meet the performance requirements of ASTM F1506, comply with NFPA 70E and are UL certified to NFPA 2112.
