Safety DNA
How to create a culture where safety isn't just following the rules ... it's living the rules!
Keynote Speaker: Neil Dempster
Vice President
Clearview Performance Systems
No task or accomplishment can be considered successful if every worker doesn't return safely home after every shift. However, many organizations find that accidents still occur – even after setting clear expectations about safety practices and providing the training, tools and resources to prevent or minimize errors. Do we simply resign ourselves to the fact that “accidents will happen”?
In his keynote address at the iP Safety Conference & Expo, Neil Dempster, an internationally recognized expert in human behavior, will approach this perplexing issue head-on. Dempster’s high-energy, thought-provoking breakout session at the 2011 iP Safety Conference & Expo at ICUEE was so well-received that we had to bring him back for our keynote breakfast in San Antonio. His presentation will acknowledge that while human error is inevitable, it is also predictable, and it is this predictability that allows proactive organizations to address the people side of the safety equation to achieve safety records that far exceed industry standards.
Dempster has an educational background in engineering, holds an MBA and is in the dissertation phase for a doctorate in industrial/organizational psychology. This unique educational blending, combined with his experiences working as a consultant in high-risk work environments, provides him with the ability to engage the hearts and minds of those who need to encode safety into their organization's DNA.
